Q. Does the state accept EMT & Fire Training Continuing Education Courses?
A. EMT & Fire Training continuing education courses are CAPCE accredited and accepted by the NREMT. You should confirm with your state EMS office that they accept CAPCE accredited Continuing Education.
California accepts those who hold a current and valid National Registry for EMT, AEMT (Advanced EMT), or for Paramedic Licensure. If you are applying for certification as an EMT or AEMT, you need to go to a local EMS agency to apply. https://www.emsa.ca.gov/paramedic/forms.asp
The local EMS agency will have the normal additional requirements such as paying a fee, supplying a picture, and undergoing a background check or supplemental training in expanded scope. It is a good idea to call ahead and find out what, if any, additional requirements exist.
To recertify your EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic License in the state of California, you must have a current EMT, AEMT or Paramedic Certification issued in CA, provide the proof of a 24 Hour Refresher for the EMT level, a 36 Hour Refresher for AEMT level, and a 48 Hour Refresher for the Paramedic level, have proof of a a completed skills competency verification form (EMSA-SCV 8/10), and submit a completed application to the Local EMS Agency. https://www.emsa.ca.gov/personnel/EMT_FAQ.asp
Our online Refresher courses will allow you to have 3 more opportunities at taking the National Registry Exam. The Course is accepted by the NREMT and covers all hours of the Mandatory Core and Content required.
